These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Dawam mobile application (“the App”) on iOS or Android, and the Dawam website at dawamapp.com. By downloading or using Dawam, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App or the website.
The service
Dawam is a free, local-first app for a daily Quran habit. Quran reading, Hifdh (memorisation) with review, prayer times, and your preferences stay on your device.
The App includes:
- Quran reading, with your place in the mushaf remembered on the device
- Hifdh (memorisation) with review
- Prayer times calculated on your device and local reminders
- Home-screen prayer widgets on iPhone and Android
- Apple Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, Apple Watch complications, and CarPlay (Apple only)
- Quran audio you can download for offline playback
- On-device progress for reading and memorisation
Dawam does not require an account, does not offer in-app purchases, and does not show ads.
Dawam is published by Vision Digital, operated by Bo Seerden, in the Netherlands. The App’s bundle and package identifier is com.bdseerden.dawam.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Dawam on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from.
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where such a restriction is unenforceable), redistribute, or exploit the App except as allowed by law or our written permission.
Not religious or medical authority
Dawam provides tools for personal practice. It is not a substitute for qualified Islamic scholarship, fatwa services, or medical or mental-health advice. Prayer times are estimates calculated on your device from your location and the calculation method you choose in Settings. Verify times with a trusted local source when it matters.
Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use Dawam for personal, lawful purposes
- Not misuse the service, attempt to disrupt it, or scrape it at scale
- Keep your device secure; reading, Hifdh, and prayer data live on the device you control
Location, notifications, widgets, and audio
Optional permissions power prayer times and reminders. You can deny permissions or change Settings; some features may then be limited.
Home-screen prayer widgets show a schedule calculated on your device. On Apple devices, Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, Apple Watch complications, and CarPlay may show that same on-device schedule. Those surfaces stay on Apple. Dawam does not add Wear OS.
When you stream or download Quran audio, your device requests the files from public Quran audio hosts. Files you save stay on your device and can play offline until you delete them or uninstall the App. Recitations remain the property of their respective reciters and publishers. The Quran text and translations are provided for personal use.
Donations
Donations on dawamapp.com are voluntary and processed by Stripe. A donation supports the running costs of Dawam. It is not a purchase and not an in-app purchase. No feature is locked behind a donation. You enter payment details on Stripe’s checkout. Dawam does not see or store your card number.
Intellectual property
The Dawam name, design, and original content belong to Vision Digital or its licensors. You receive no ownership of the App by installing it. You may not copy or redistribute them without permission, except as allowed by law.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how information is handled. Practice data stays on your device. Dawam does not require an account and does not keep a cloud copy of your reading, Hifdh, or prayer history.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or accurate prayer times in all conditions.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VISION DIGITAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF DAWAM. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH MAY BE ZERO BECAUSE THE APP IS FREE).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted. These terms are also limited by mandatory consumer protections under Dutch law.
Termination
You may stop using Dawam at any time and delete local data with Settings → Reset all data, or by uninstalling the App. We may stop offering the App or particular features at any time.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires additional consent. The current terms are published at https://dawamapp.com/terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence apply. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the competent Dutch courts, subject to those protections.
